- This video features a recording of "The 'Real' State of the Union" event presented by Georgia Women's Action for New Directions (WAND) at Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Bobbie Paul, Georgia W.A.N.D.'s executive director, emcees the event at which the main speakers are Atlanta Journal Constitution editorial columnist Jay Bookman and Reverend Gerald Durley. Bookman speaks about Joseph E. Lowery's attendance at last year's 'Real' State of the Union, where Lowery recalled his deliverance of the benediction at President Obama's inauguration. Bookman and Durley both speak about the current political, economic, and social issues impacting American citizens and the work that needs to be done to create progress.
