Description:: This video features a meeting of an Atlanta City Council committee in which the renaming of Ashby Street to Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard is discussed. Speakers include city councilwoman Mable Thomas, Tyrone Brooks, and James Orange. Video footage then switches to a full Atlanta City Council meeting where residents provide public comment on the renaming of Ashby Street. The video also includes a partial recording of a meeting attended by Joseph E. Lowery in which various civil rights and social justice events scheduled in Atlanta are discussed. The video concludes with a planning meeting of the Gala Committee for Lowery's eightieth birthday led by Evelyn G. Lowery.
