- Description:
- Bishop Willis J. King (1886-1976) attended Wiley College, Boston University of Theology, and Harvard University. Bishop King served as Professor of Old Testament Literature at Gammon Theological Seminary and later went on to become president of Gammon in 1932. This sermon was given at the 1962 ITC commencement ceremony. Bishop King illustrates the theme of the inevitability of change and uses passages from the Biblical book of Matthew as his text. He emphasizes that materialism and race relations are causing turmoil in the Christian church. He ends the sermon by telling ministers to always see the Christian church as the instrument of Christ in the world. The audio recording ends with a spiritual, the conferring and presentation of degrees, and closing remarks from Dr. H.V. Richardson. Low levels at the end; ends abruptly.
