MR. BRANTON - 3 - Aug. 28 I realize that it is true, that one does not have to come through the NAACP to file a suit seeking relief from discrimination. But, I also feel that when it is so blantantly expressed, it does not enhance the cause of the National Association for the Advancement of the Colored People nor the Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. I am pointing these facts out to you because I know you are as interest- ed as I am to see segregation and discrimination completely eliminated in Arkansas. I feel that the only way this can de done is for both organiza- tions to work cooperatively in a program that will inspire the shole com- munity, and all will work toward that end. Sincerly yours, [signature included] Mrs. Daisy Bates cc: Attorney Jack Greenberg Mr. Roy Wilkins Attorney George Howard, Jr. Reverend J.C. Crenchaw Mr. Gloster B. Current Mr. L.C.
