- WSFA-TV's George Mitchell interviewing a leader of the Continental Walk for Disarmament and Social Justice on U.S. Highway 80 near Craig Air Force Base in Selma, Alabama. The demonstration, which left from New Orleans, Louisiana, on April 4 with the intention of reaching Washington D.C. on or near October 16, was one of several such marches held around the country in 1976. Among the sponsors of this iteration were the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the American Friends Service Committee, and the War Resisters League.
