- A bumper sticker featuring the emblem of the Lowndes County Freedom Association (also known as the Black Panther Party) is stuck to the side of the car; it reads, "We're the greatest." The march began on June 5 in Memphis, Tennessee. Meredith was injured by gunshots shortly after setting out, and he was not able to rejoin the march until June 25.
