- Policemen on motorcycles are escorting the marchers. Several businesses are visible on the street, including the Whitley Hotel, the Jefferson Davis Hotel, Guaranty Savings Life Insurance Company, and the Empire Theater (DR. ZHIVAGO is advertised on the marquee). The image is very dark. Several marches and demonstrations took place in Montgomery in June 1967. They were discussed in an article ("Marches Held in Capital") on pages 1 and 6 of The Southern Courier for June 17-18, 1967, and in an article ("Goals No Closer for Marchers in Capital") and a photo spread ("Montgomery Marches") on pages 1 and 3 of The Southern Courier for June 24-25, 1967.
