- 'This will be a culminating activity to a unit on Company Towns and Mill Villages in Alabama during the New South Era. After learning about and evaluating actual communities from the time period, the students will create a layout or map of their own imaginary Company Town or Mill Village. They will also complete a writing assignment that compares and contrasts their own imaginary community with the actual communities of the time period. They will have to give reasons why they kept some things the same and changed other things from the communities of the New South Era.'
