- Description:
- It is important for students to have a mental timeline of important events in history. While exact dates may not be remembered, students should be able to recall the order of events. When an event is mentioned (such as the Trail of Tears), students should be able to name events prior to and after that named event. This primary source will support a unit of study about American Indians and the Trail of Tears. Show students the map of the Chickasaw Territory in 1824 without giving any descriptions, the map's title, or the map's date. Ask students to write about the map.
