- Description:
- After introducing the lesson by discussing Alabama's influence in World War I, the class would look at this poster and discuss war stamps and how students used what money they had to buy the stamps to help the war. Then, break the students into small groups and tell them they would be discussing other activities they could do to raise money for the war. I would remind them about the time period the children of World War I lived in and that they could only use items and activities that were possible during that time period. Once the students decide, they would write a narrative letter addressed to the mayor of their town that detailed the fundraising effort and where the money would go in the war effort.
