- According to notes accompanying the negative for this image, 22 patrol cars escorted the bus, while National Guardsmen waited at the Demopolis bus station. The vehicle passed through town at about 10:00 a.m., traveling between 50 and 60 miles per hour and followed by cars displaying Confederate flags.
