- Chance and Louis Mercado were plaintiffs in Chance v. Board of Examiners, a court case related to discrimination in examination and appointment of principals and supervisors in New York City schools. These photographs were taken by Jim Peppler, who worked as a photographer for the LDF from about 1966 to 1985.
