- As a nineteen-year old University of Bridgeport student, Lewis Richard Zuchman was arrested on July 16, 1961 in Jackson, Mississippi for his participation in a Freedom Ride from Nashville, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi via Greyhound. Zuchman was a founder of the Bridgeport, Connecticut chapter of CORE.
