- Biography:
- Ellen Lee Ziskind was a student at Columbia University in New York City when she was arrested for her participation in the Freedom Rides during the summer of 1961. As part of the Freedom Ride, Ziskind, along with nine others, took a Greyhound bus from Nashville, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi where she was arrested on 29 July 1961. Before her arrest Ziskind worked with Louis Lomax to plan the Freedom Rider benefit concert in June of 1961. Ziskind went on to work at WBAI radio in New York City and later studied at the Massachusetts General dyslexic clinic.
