- Biography:
- White civil rights worker from Appleton, Wisconsin, Beloit College student who participated in an exchange to Nashville's Fisk University. In Nashville, he joined in the student movement, attended the Lawson workshops, and participated in the 1961 theater stand-ins. He rode in the Nashville to Montgomery (via Birmingham) Freedom Ride from May 17 to 21, 1961. integrated bus rides through the segregated South. He was brutally beaten at a stop in Montgomery, Alabama.
