Tommie Watts, Jr. was a seventeen-year-old student at Brinkley High School in Jackson, Mississippi when he was arrested for his participation in the Freedom Rides. Watts, along with five others, was arrested in the Illinois Central Railroad terminal in Jackson, Mississippi on 6 July 1961.
