- Biography:
- Lucius Walker was a Milwaukee, Wisconsin minister and civil rights activist in the 1960s, where he served at Hulburt Baptist Church, an all-white congregation on the south side of the city; he also served as the founding director of Northcott Neighborhood House. In 1967, Walker relocated to the New York City area, where he was named the founding director of the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO), an ecumenical group working for peace and social justice where he organized efforts to bring humanitarian aid to Central America, Cuba, and New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. At his death in 2010, he was serving as pastor of the Salvation Baptist Church of New York.
