- Biography:
- African American civil rights worker and lab technician who moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1967, after heading the New Jersey chapter of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE). Waiss remained engaged in civil rights efforts in Milwaukee; she co-founded the Clifford McKissick Community School in the late 1960s, and represented the midwestern United States at the sixth Pan-African Congress in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania in 1974.
