- Biography:
- John Charles Taylor, Jr. was a twenty-six year old pharmacy clerk in Berkeley, California when he was arrested for his participation in the Freedom Rides. Taylor was arrested in the Illinois Central terminal in Jackson, Mississippi on 9 July 1961 after he and eight others participated in a Freedom Ride from New Orleans, Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi. Taylor was also active in the San Francisco Bay Area sit-ins and was the Berkeley chair of CORE.
