- "Rabbi S. Arnold Task was born, raised, and educated in Chicago, Illinois. After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago in 1952, he attended Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, Ohio for rabbinic training from 1952 to 1958. Task moved to St. Louis, Missouri for an assistant rabbi position, where he remained for two years. He then moved to Newport News, Virginia, from 1960 to 1968. In the summer of 1968, Task and his family moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, where he served as rabbi for the Temple Emanuel congregation until 1988. He was appointed to the Citizens Review Committee that investigated the November 3, 1979 incident.
