- Biography:
- Edith Rosenwald Stern was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1895 to Julius and Augusta Rosenwald. In 1909, her father became chief executive of Sears, Roebuck and Company and in 1921 she married Edgar Bloom Stern of New Orleans, Louisiana. Stern became a well-known socialite who dedicated her time and financial resources to various social and philanthropic causes, including the League of Women Voters of New Orleans and the founding of two local schools.
