- "Angeline D. Smith was born on February 7, 1908. She earned her bachelor's degree from North Carolina A&T State University. A longtime Greensboro school teacher, Smith taught English at Dudley High School from 1942 until 1971, when she was transferred to Smith High School. Smith and her husband, S. C. Smith, were committed to numerous civic organizations and humanitarian causes early, including the fight to end 'whites-only' public accommodations and the integration of the YMCA during the 1940s and 1950s. They both were active in the United Way, Interracial Forum, Meals on Wheels, and the Sickle-Cell Anemia Foundation. In 1988, the couple received the Brotherhood Citation from the Greensboro Chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Angeline Smith served as a trustee for NC A&T and was also a member of their endowment board.
