- Felix Jacques Singer was a thirty-two year old writer in Chicago, Illinois when he was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi for his participation in a Freedom Ride. As part of the Freedom Ride, Singer took a bus from Montgomery, Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi where he was arrested, along with thirteen others, at the Trailways terminal on 2 June 1961.
