- Biography:
- Sally Jane Rowley was working as a secretary for Merrill Sharpe Co. in New York City when she was arrested for her participation in the Freedom Rides during the summer of 1961. As part of the Freedom Ride, Rowley, along with nine others, took a Greyhound bus from Nashville, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi where she was arrested on 29 July 1961.
