- Born in Bloomington, Illinois in 1918, George Lincoln Rockwell was a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, a Commander for the Navy Reserves and founder of the American Nazi Party. The American Nazi Party was a Neo-Nazi political organization founded in 1959 and based in Arlington, Virginia. Rockwell served as leader of the American Nazi Party, later renamed National White People's Party, until his death in 1967. Rockwell was assassinated on August 25, 1967 by disgruntled former party member, John Palter.
