Carolyn Yvonne Reed was a twenty-one year old nurse's aid at Meharry Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee when she was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi for her participation in a Freedom Ride. As part of the Freedom Ride, Reed took a bus from Montgomery, Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi where she was arrested, along with thirteen others, at the Trailways terminal on 2 June 1961.
