- Michael Leon Prichard was born in Portland, Oregon on March 31, 1943. He passed away on November 11, 2007, in Los Angeles, CA. He had an M.A. in Industrial Studies and was on the faculty of Los Angeles City College as a full-time professor from 1979 to 2007, dedicated to advancing the educational and career prospects of largely very low-income and immigrant students. Throughout the years, he also taught Industrial Studies part-time at California State University at Los Angeles, and worked at Rancho Los Amigos in Los Angeles inventing and developing innovative assistive devices for wheelchair bound persons. On July 2, 1961, he was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi for his participation in a Freedom Ride from Montgomery, Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi.
