- Biography:
- Luther Judson Price (1856-1936), an Atlanta-based businessman and civil rights activist. Price was born on Tye Plantation in Sunnyside, Georgia to his enslaver father and to his mother, Angeline Price, who was of English, Native American, and African descent. Price was one of the first graduates from Clark College, a storeowner, and South Atlanta's first postmaster starting in 1889. He married Minnie Georgiana Wright on February 2, 1867. They had five children: two boys, Luther Jerome and William Harold, and three daughters, Minnie Helen Price, Annie Mae Price O'Hara, and Miriam Eloise Price Allen. The Prices were active in church, civic, and community activities. He served as South Atlanta Methodist Episcopal Church's treasurer and steward board chair.
