- Biography:
- Jackson State University graduate, educator, and African American SNCC staff member in Mississippi in 1963. She was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi on July 17, 1961 for disturbing the peace at the Southern Governors' Conference. During Freedom Summer, she taught at the McComb Freedom School. In 1965 she worked for the Lawyers Constitutional Defense Committee in Shreveport, Louisiana. She authored an essay about her experiences that appears in Hands on the Freedom Plow.
