- Biography:
- "Roy C. Millikan, born in 1894, was a native of Randleman, North Carolina. He graduated from Oak Ridge Military Academy and then attended Guilford College. He left Guilford and enrolled at the Western Maryland College but returned to Guilford for his junior year. He served in the U.S military during World War I. Upon returning to the states in 1919, he began a career in real estate with his father, James M., and brother B. Frank Millikan. During World War II, Millikan served as the chairman of the Guilford County draft board for five and a half years. In 1953, President Dwight D. Eisenhower appointed Millikan as the North Carolina Director of the Federal Housing Administration. Roy Millikan twice as president of the Greensboro Board of Realtors and was named Realtor of the Year in 1964. He served the city of Greensboro as a councilman for three terms, beginning in 1959, and then was appointed to direct the creation of Greensboro's Human Relations Commission in 1960 by Mayor David Schenck. He continued to operate Millikan Real Estate until the late 1970s. Roy C.
