- President of the Milwaukee chapter of the Negro American Labor Council and member of Milwaukee United School Integration Committee (MUSIC) in 1965. Miller became the first African American hired to Milwaukee's fire and police commission when he was appointed as a contract compliance examiner by Mayor Henry Maier in 1968.
