- Biography:
- Orville B. Luster was an active member of the American Friends Service Committee and living in Berkeley, California when he was arrested for his participation in the Freedom Rides during the summer of 1961. As part of the Freedom Ride, Luster, along with eight others, was arrested in the airport in Jackson, Mississippi on 21 July 1961. Luster later went on to serve for nearly twenty-five years as the executive director of Youth for Service, a San Francisco based organization aimed at developing the career and vocational skills of local students and disadvantaged youth.
