- "Colvin Theodore Leonard, Sr., was born in Franklinville, North Carolina, in 1899. He was a veteran of World War I. Leonard attended the Curry Training School at Woman's College, then the University of North Carolina, where he was on the staff of the Daily Tar Heel. After graduation, he took a job at the Greensboro Record, where he worked as and editor for many years. Leonard also worked for the Greensboro Daily News, the North Carolina League of Municipalities, and edited The Southern City Magazine. Upon retiring from the Record in 1965, he became the public relations director at Greensboro College, a job he held till retirement in 1980. Leonard was former president and long-time member of the Greensboro Civitan Club.
