- Biography:
- John LaBauve was a Roman Catholic priest in Mississippi during the civil rights era who worked with activists in Hattiesburg and Mound Bayou to promote voter registration among the communities' African American population by hosting registration workshops at his church. Born in Abbeville, Louisiana on March 27, 1923, LaBauve attended St. Augustine's Seminary in Bay St. Louis, Missouri. Following his ordination on June 29, 1951, LaBauve moved to Mississippi.
