- Biography:
- Margaret Ann Kerr was a twenty-six year old student at University of California, Berkeley when she was arrested for her participation in the Freedom Rides. As part of the Freedom Ride, Kerr rode on the Illinois Central Railroad from New Orleans, Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi where she was arrested with nearly a dozen others on 20 June 1961. Three years later Kerr returned to Mississippi as a volunteer with COFO's Mississippi Freedom Project.
