- Biography:
- Mary L. Jorgensen was an active member of the American Friends Service Committee and living in Berkeley, California when she was arrested for his participation in the Freedom Rides during the summer of 1961. As part of the Freedom Ride, Jorgensen, along with eight others, was arrested in the airport in Jackson, Mississippi on 21 July 1961. Jorgensen and her husband, fellow Freedom Rider Russell F. Jorgensen, founded the Friends Committee on Legislation in the 1950s.
