- Biography:
- A graduate of Cornell University, Elizabeth Slade Hirschfeld was working as a laboratory technician for the Atomic Energy Commission when she was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi for her participation in a Freedom Ride from Nashville, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi on June 16, 1961. In addition to her participation in the Freedom Rides, Hirschfeld also lobbied for the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party in 1964.
