Jeanne H. Herrick was a twenty-eight year old housewife in Chicago, Illinois when she was arrested for her participation in the Freedom Rides. Herrick was arrested in the Trailways terminal in Jackson, Mississippi on 9 July 1961 after she and seven others rode a bus from Montgomery, Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi.
