- Biography:
- Charles A. Haynie was a twenty-five year old student at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York when he was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi for his participation in a Freedom Ride. As part of the Freedom Ride, Haynie and seven others took an Illinois Central train from New Orleans, Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi where they were arrested on 30 May 1961.
