- Harris was one of seven founding members of the United Negro Protest Committee in 1963, initiated the "Let's March!" campaign that resulted in protest marches on local businesses to press for job opportunities and the demand for more black administrators and professionals on the Community College faculty. At a time when few blacks were employed in sales, he held sales positions with W. S. Brown Sporting Goods Company and Meadow Gold Dairies. -- Pittsburgh Urban League WWW site.
