- Biography:
- Nineteen year old student at Howard University, Gwendolyn T. Greene was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi on 8 June 1961 for her participation in a Freedom Ride on the Illinois Central Railroad from New Orleans, Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi. Greene later married fellow Freedom Rider Travis Britt and was elected to the Maryland state senate in 2002.
