- Civil rights activist who began his activism in 1959. Gordon worked in Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Arkansas and Alabama. He was a member of CORE, SCLC, SCEF, NAACP, NDPA, and MFDP. Gordon was the first Black person elected to the Eutaw, Alabama city council.
