Galamison, Milton A. (Milton Arthur), 1923-1988
- Biography:
- African American Brooklyn Presbyterian pastor and civil rights activist. Beginning in 1948 and until his death in 1988, he served as pastor of the third oldest African American Presbyterian church in the U.S., Siloam Presbyterian Church in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. Galamison was active in educational reform and a founder of SCOPE (School and Community Organization for Partnership in Education). In 1964 and 1965, as chairman of the Citywide Committee for School Integration, he organized two school boycotts. For a short time in 1968 and 1969, he was vice president of the New York Board of Education. (Inventory of the Milton A.
