- Biography:
- Greenville, Mississippi native and then president of the NAACP Mississippi Youth Council, Johnny Frazier suffered a beating at the hands of police on August 27, 1960 after his attempt to desegregate a Winona bus station. Frazier attempted to gain admittance to the University of Southern Mississippi during the 1960s, but was denied entrance on several occasions. Instead, he attended Tougaloo College.
