- Biography:
- Jewish superintendent of the National Pencil Company factory in Atlanta accused of the murder of thirteen-year old employee Mary Phagan in 1913. He was tried, convicted, and sentenced to death in an atmosphere of anti-semetic fervor. After numerous failed court appeals, Governor John Slaton converted Frank's sentence to life in prison. On August 16, 1915, a mob lynched Frank.
