- Biography:
- At the age of twenty-five, African American Los Angeles State College student James Emerson Dennis was arrested for his participation in a Freedom Ride from Nashville, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi via Greyhound on July 16, 1961. He graduated from Los Angeles State College in 1961 and received an M.A. from California State University, Northridge in 1977. Dennis was a member of the CORE national board from 1967 to 1972.
