- Biography:
- James Keet Davis, Jr. was a twenty-one year old student at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina when he was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi for his participation in a Freedom Ride. As part of the Freedom Ride, Davis and seven others took an Illinois Central train from New Orleans, Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi where they were arrested on 30 May 1961. Davis later married fellow Freedom Rider Glenda Jean Gaither.
