- Biography:
- Baptist preacher, author, civil rights activist. Born July 18, 1924 in Liberty, Mississippi. Director of Religious Life at the University of Mississippi from 1952 to 1954. While serving on the National Council of Churches, Campbell escorted the Little Rock 9 into high school. in 1963 to become the Director of the Committee of Southern Churchmen (formerly the Fellowship of Southern Churchmen), where he worked until the late 1970s.
