- Born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 31, 1933, Edward J. Bromberg was a student at Columbia University when he was arrested for her participation in the Freedom Rides. As part of the Freedom Ride, Bromberg, along with four others, took a train from Nashville, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi where they were arrested in the Illinois Central terminal on June 9, 1961.
