- Born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 10, 1941, Margaret Winonah Beamer was a student at Central State College when she was arrested for her participation in the Freedom Rides. As part of the Freedom Ride, Beamer, along with four others, took a train from Nashville, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi where they were arrested in the Illinois Central terminal on June 9, 1961.
